The
Hingham Area Branch of
AAUW is the South Shore’s leading advocate
for education and equity for all women and girls. We seek and
welcome new members from Quincy to Plymouth holding an associate or
equivalent or baccalaureate or higher degree from an accredited
institution.
The Hingham
Area branch of meets monthly from September through May
usually on the evening of
the second Tuesday of the month at various locations
convenient to the wide area covered by our membership. Our
programs relate to AAUW's mission to advance equity for women and
girls through advocacy, education, philanthropy, and research.
We engage in
fundraising for AAUW Funds which supports programs such as the
Educational Opportunities Fund,
the world's largest source of funding exclusively for graduate women
and the
Legal Advocacy
Fund,
which
supports the
protection of the legal rights of those who are facing
discrimination.

Journey
Through China
|

Come and enjoy
a vicarious trip through China. The February AAUW-Hingham

historic and present day China. Travel with us to
Beijing and walk along the Great Wall, view the
Terra Cotta Warriors in Xian, cruise along the
Yangtze River, walk through the Bund in Shanghai at

The
Hingham Area branch also sponsors Study and Special Interest
Groups. Study Groups may be formed to allow for a more in-depth
exploration of a particular topic or for a more informal
presentation of a timely topic than might otherwise occur at a
branch meeting. Special Interest Groups, open only to AAUW
members, include book discussion (Spring
2011 book selections), adventures in dining, a
writers group, a game night, a a decluttering support group and
a yarn group. Groups generally
meet in homes and are announced in the
monthly branch bulletin.
Check with our
program VP
for information on our current interest group activities.
We seek and welcome new members among graduates who hold an
associate or equivalent or a baccalaureate or higher degree from
a college or university. Undergraduates may join the
branch as AAUW student affiliates. We practice AAUW's
diversity statement: There shall be no barriers to full
participation in this organization on the basis of gender, race,
creed, age, sexual orientation, national origin, disability or
class.
We welcome new members from the South Shore! For more
information about how to join, please
contact our Membership Vice President,
Deanne Noiseux, 781 545-5247.

Programs and Events
2011-2012 |
|

The Hingham Area Branch just completed its 43nd year as part of the American Association
of University Women. AAUW members believe in the power of education to change
women’s lives. We also recognize that women’s education
means not only attaining higher degrees. It also means
becoming financially literate, daring to take risks to
grow and learn throughout our lives, and to help others
both around us and far away from us to reach their
potential.
Our programs focus on our mission to advance equity for
women and girls through advocacy, education,
philanthropy, and research. We hope you will join us at one of our
events. No matter
how busy your daily routine is, we think you’ll get
something out of our events. You’ll meet like-minded
women from the
South Shore. We’ll hear from fascinating speakers on
thought-provoking topics.
|
|
|
For more information about our meeting topics and
speakers, please contact Program Vice President Carol
Sullivan-Hanley. |
|
|
Expand your horizons and potential. Come to our
monthly meetings, bring a neighbor, friend or colleague!
Remember,
AAUW advances equity for all women and girls through
advocacy, education, philanthropy, and research--because
equity is still an issue.
We
look forward to seeing you!
