Programs 2007- 2008

  

October 2, 2007, Tuesday

Location:  CVNA, 10 Emory St., Attleboro

Time:  7 - 8:30 pm

                Election of Officers. Annual budget will be presented for approval.

Program:  One Adventure, One Book, One Community 

      Book Discussion of “Fahrenheit 451” by Ray Bradbury

                         Our book discussion leaders: Sheila Rosa and Kelly Visconti, A.H.S. English Dept. Faculty

                         In Attleboro, the 1ABC project is co-chaired by Vic Bonneville and Joan Pilkington-

                         Smyth.    It recently received a grant from the Balfour Foundation.

November 10, 2007, Saturday (Veteran’s Day Weekend)

 

          Location:  Florence Sweet Clubhouse, 44 Peck St., Attleboro

         

          Time: 1 - 3 pm

Program:  Honoring Women in the Military – Women veterans will speak to us about why they

               chose to serve and share their experiences.

          Speakers: To be announced in October.

              Hospitality – Paula Correia, Maxine Johnson, Jean McNary

 

December 4, 2007, Tuesday

Location: At the home of Maxine Johnson, Attleboro

Time:  6:30 - 8:30 PM

Program:  Holiday Party and Gift Basket Raffle Fundraiser

     There will be a Sing-a-long with Pianist, Robert Johnson

      Drawing will be held for our 4 gift themed gift baskets. 

      Tickets can be purchased that night for $5.00 each with proceeds to benefit our Attleboro

      and North Attleboro High School Scholarships.

February 9, 2008, Saturday

Location:  Attleboro Public Library

Time: 1 - 4 pm

Program:  Domestic Violence

      Domestic Violence is now recognized as one of our nation’s most serious health

      problems.    We all have a unique opportunity to play a vital role in recognition and

      intervention of domestic violence.  Hear first-hand the moving story of a victim, who is also

      a survivor.  Learn how you can make a difference in someone’s life.

          Program:  Katrina- Cleaning up New Orleans - Carole Myles, Presenter

A Gulfport, MI survivor will talk about her experiences: A Diary - Before, During and after the Storm. Anita Ness, Presenter

            Annual Meeting and May Banquet

            Location:  Leona’s Restaurant, Route 152, North Attleboro
