AAUW Cape Cod is a leading advocate for education and equity for all women and girls on Cape Cod. Membership is open to all those who hold an associate or equivalent degree or a baccalaureate or higher degree from an accredited college or university. In principal and in practice, AAUW Cape Cod values and seeks a diverse membership.
The Cape Cod branch was founded in 1962. We have approximately 100 members with 20 members on the Board of Directors. The Cape Cod Branch serves the entire Cape Cod and Islands area. Our branch meetings are held in a mid-Cape location convenient for everyone. Please contact our Vice President Membership, Kathleen Delaney 508 394-9097 or email kathdel@comcast.net.
Branch Meetings: Our branch meetings are held on the fourth Tuesday of each month, from September through May. Programs reflect our interest in stimulating lifelong education and positive societal change. The business meeting and program follow coffee/tea at 12:30. Meetings are held in Nelson Hall unless otherwise noted. The December and May meetings are luncheons held in various Cape restaurants. Our 2011-2012 Program is listed below.
Interest Groups: Several interest groups meet monthly. They are Antiques, Art and Architecture, Cape Cod Theater, and 6 book groups. Most Interest Groups meet in members' homes.
Fund Raisers: Each year we have three major fundraisers - to aid the Educational Foundation (EF), the Legal Advocacy Fund (LAF), and our Branch activities.
Tuesday, June 19, 2012: Book and Author Tea, Nelson Hall, South Yarmouth
July 23, 24, 25, 2012: Used Book and Jewelry Sale, Nelson Hall
Local Scholarship: In May of each year, we award a $2000.00 scholarship to a Cape Cod woman who is returning to college to complete her bachelor's degree. To apply, contact capecodfoundation.org or, for more information, our scholarship chairman Regina Mullen at mullen104@comcast.net.
The deadline is April first.
Newsletter: Our newsletter, UNIVERSITY WOMAN, is published monthly from September to May. It contains notification of our special activities for that month, as well as AAUW information on national and state matters.
