Ever thought of taking a midsummer trip to visit Laplanders in northern Sweden? How about attending a mystery writer's conference on a cruise ship or going on a painting tour of missions in Mexico? Sound fascinating? The public is invited to attend the next branch meeting of the Hingham Area Branch of the American Association of University Women and find out about travel adventures that are all about enrichment and lifelong learning.

The meeting will take place Oct. 10, at 7 p.m., at Tufts Library, 46 Broad St., Weymouth. Speaker will be Rochelle Kruger, an Elderhostel Ambassador. Information will be distributed by the not-for-profit organization about Elderhostel programs in North America and the world. Elderhostel also offers access to day trips to an astronomy observatory, art galleries, concert halls and aquariums. The meeting is free and open to the public, and all are encouraged to attend. The Hingham Area Branch of AAUW represents woman from all areas of the South Shore.

AAUW seeks and welcomes new members who hold an associate degree or equivalent, or bachelor's or higher degree from a qualified educational institution. Undergraduates may join the branch as AAUW student affiliates. AAUW members believe in the power of education to change women's lives, and recognize that women's education means not only attaining higher degrees, it also means becoming financially literate, daring to take risks to grow and learn throughout life, and helping others reach their potential.
