North Shore Branch

Because equity is still an issue

Serving cities and towns on the North Shore

The North Shore branch was founded in 1931 and covers a widespread area including  Beverly, Salem, Marblehead, Essex, Ipswich, Hamilton, Wenham, Manchester, Gloucester, Danvers, Peabody, Lynn and Swampscott.

We are a diverse group in age and ethnicity, with retired professional women and others still active in their fields.  We have a strong, committed board of directors, as well as individuals who devote time and talent to specific tasks.  Although we encourage active participation by our members, we welcome any level of involvement.

We are an active branch.  We usually plan --

three public meetings covering topics related to AAUW's mission

four Spotlight luncheons to discuss critically acclaimed films over a fine meal

three fundraising events for AAUW's Educational Foundation and Legal Advocacy Fund,   including a Holiday Auction and a Book and Author Luncheon

an Annual Dinner Meeting

collaboration with Girls Inc. of Lynn to plan the SMART Girls Summit-- a science, math, technology conference for middle-school girls.

For several years, the North Shore branch has been recognized by AAUW-MA for our innovative approach to forming linkages within the community through collaborative projects.  We have been asked to make presentations at training sessions regarding our efforts.

We look forward to welcoming any interested individuals to our activities.  For further information regarding program or membership, please contact Patricia Ho,
