AAUW-MA was a sponsor of LAUNCH--moving ideas to the next level, which parallels AAUW’s goal to promote STEM education.

On Friday, April 9, 2010, 11:00AM-4:30PM, LAUNCH brought together innovative thinkers who wanted to learn how to develop and protect their ideas and individuals and organizations that promote STEM Literacy for people of all ages.

The AAUW-MA Convention discussed the barriers that women face in the STEM fields. Keynote speaker Andresse St. Rose, AAUW Research Associate and co-author of a new AAUW research, reported on this very issue. Copies of the AAUW report entitled: Why so few? Women in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics were available at the convention. In addition, featured were Dave Kirkwood, AAUW Board of Directors, the Massasoit Community College Campus Action Project and a panel of women speakers shared their experiences and challenges in selecting careers in the STEM fields. The luncheon speaker was Autumn Grant, coordinator of Ms. Wheelchair Massachusetts.
